Heck having seconed thoughts now Tony, I was cosiddering removing my open fire and putting in multi fuel burner. Altthough it burns any thing a multi burner has to be cleaner.

after seeing your hothouse , I reckon you are more than capable!
look out for a 'charnwood' LA45, or LA50, you can build them in, or have 'em free standing.
here's a shot of a register plate, before the fire is fitted. you can see the flue tucked up in the chimney, thru the hole, ready to be lowered down into top of multiburner.[attachment=1]

The hot house is a lot different to this i dont have a chimney going up a chimney. and soot coming down the chimney into the living room.
I wont have a problem getting a plate made and fitting it, so the next question is does your flue go all the way to the top of the chimney IE the light wieght tubing extension, if not how is the soot stopped from falling onto the plate.

Did you see the end result for the hot house, the pipe work i put in. it maintains a nice 60 deg night temp at a cost of £7 a week on 24 hours a day.

After putting the fire in did a bit of adding up at what it would cost to improve on the heating £26 for the copper piping had all the rest of the parts made by friends.
