Good morning everyone

Can anyone please tell me when I should expect some sign of 'life' to appear in my redcurrant, blackcurrant and raspberries.  Last year I was advised to cut them all right back which I did but they all appear pretty dead to  me.

My autumn rasp canes are beginning to sprout now, and looking closely the buds on the currants are just swelling..  :)

Didn't bother chopping them back last year or the year before - no harm seems to happen, I just have a few dead twigs about.  I'll chop them off this year when the plant comes properly into spring

My raspberries are not showing any sign of life yet either, my gooseberries are beginning too and my blk currunts were until something started nibbling on them, mite have to have a rabbit stew or two.

My raspberry canes are shooting now.  I got a load of cheap soft fruit from Aldi recently and planted them out on Saturday and the currants were sprouting too as were some of the gooseberries.  Worryingly some of the gooseberries had precious little root growth and appeared rather lifeless twigs!  I hope something comes of them....anyone else bought them in previous years and if so were they any good?
