3 months ago, our card was debited with several hundred pounds.

Changed card.

Yesterday our new card met the same fate!

Thank God for the Security Services.

Crickey  :o Where are they getting your details? Maybe from a cash point? Same thing happened to my brother turned out there was a card reader on a cash point at our local asda!!!!

have had my cards skimmed twice I think two local garages were to blamed only pay cash or use only two trusted petrol stations  ::)

They did something at the cash machine at my local Sainsburys, but luckily it was spotted by the security staff early in the day.  You just can't believe the nerve of these people.

For the past 18 months or so I now always check around the cash point pushing and pulling the keyboard and other things around it prior to use to see if anything comes off.  Banks have no problems with people doing this as precautionary measure. (I saw it on TV)

OH had her card cloned after using a cash point outside a local Mc D's... lost £300 it was refunded by the Halifax eventually!  :-\

My mastercard was used last year to the tune of about £1000.  I got it deducted from my card pretty quickly.  I now check my statements carefully.

My card was stopped just before Christmas by my bank when they noticed an odd £1 online transaction. It was very annoying for me because i hadn't purchased most of my Christmas presents but I was very pleased with the bank. They said that the thieves generate numbers at random and try them with a small transaction that might get past any checks and if successful they will then use the number.Fortunately my bank was on the ball.

A girl at the OH's work had two lots of £50 taken out of her account, she writes it down everywhere she uses it, so the bank could trace it. They said the money was being drawn out in the west indies. When asked if anything unusual happened she just said that the card didn't go through once and she turned it around thinking she'd put it in wrong, the bank said this is how they scan the card by getting the information on both sides.    >:(         :'(       ;D ;D ;D

My visa card was used fraudulently three weeks ago & the card company spotted it & stopped the card very quickly.  Unfortunately the process of getting the fraudulent transactions sorted is a shambles as far as I can tell.

I had a "spare" credit card & have a replacement now so they made sure I could keep spending as quickly as possible, just aren't rushing to deal with the fraud.

My card was used by someone checking car histories with RAC.    I spotted it within hours [by luck]  and Goldfish were very helpful but it took 6 weeks to get a new card and just before Christmas so I was not happy.  The fraud squad would not reveal how and where.   Just very careful now where I use my card.  I try to use cash back at Sainsburys for cash.

I have a regular transaction based in Germany, suddenly it moved to Italy. My card company immediately phoned me to check if it was genuine.

When I do any very large transactions I now email them to say it is genuine.

Its hard to believe is'nt it my daughter had her card cloned and used in star city she has never been there ,my grandaughter had her card cloned when she flew to new York, my grandson lost £300 pounds, it is so wide spread it makes you think twice about handing your card over for  any thing.

Someone tell me how the 3 security numbers are supposed to help when you have to give them out everywhere to buy anything on line or over the phone?

i had my card cloned and they tried to use it in Peru thankfully it didnt work and the bank were really quick on the uptake.
I use rubberfrog for my ink cartridges and i ordered some to go to my daughters uni term time address and they emailed me to check they were ordered by me excellent service i think dont you

I think that now, as banks/building soc.s are liable for losses, their use of customer profiling has improved terrifically. Problems can arise, however, when you make a genuine 'odd' transaction, ie overseas, or to a different address. Best thing to do is email the account provider in advance.

Always put one hand over the other when you type in your pin.

You would be surprised how easy it is to read a pin number, especially if there is a cloned machine.

My bank phones me immediately if there are any transactions that don't fit my normal profile. I got a call a few weeks ago and when the chap on the phone asked me for my security details I refused to give them out, I asked him to tell me my security details. It's not uncommon for criminals to get hold of your information by claiming to be from your bank.
