Hi all,

Thanks for the great replies  ;D. I am loving seeing it all come together. Have managed to turn a patch that just looked horrid into a useable space all by my self. I'm so proud of myself and have enjoyed every minute even when hammering my thumb and getting splinters  :D

Neil:- at the moment just garlic and was trying carrots under my sun tunnel not sure if there come to much but if i didn't try i would never know  :-\

I have a box of seeds that i want to plant but to be honest not really sure where to plant what. I'm planing on planting in pots too so its just a case of deciding what would be best where. could do with a planting guild as i don't really know where to start lol

I'll get there in the end I'm sure  ;D

going ' great guns ' in your garden !     Well done you     ;D

   Will keep trying,

Thats a great way to think. Taking advice is good but trying your own way is also good.

It might be worth checking on the spacing of the fruit as they can grow quite big.

Here is one of the pics

manicscousers

don't know if you're interested but plants of distinction have a 'lilliput collection', smaller plants for smaller gardns, includes a pea you can grow in pots on a windowsill, I might have a go at that  ;D

mummybunny

Hello

Flossy I did think once i planted them that they might be a little close on the label said a foot so i gathered my size 7 would be about that  :-[ I am open to all advice so what do you think i should do????

I really don't mind if I'm told that i may be doing something wrong that's the only way i will learn so fire away  ;D

manicscousers i will have a look sounds like a great idea. My 3 kids are loving getting involved too which is great. There just as excited to see my garlic growing they helped prepare the patch so once they see there fave veg being pulled out of the ground they'll be no stopping them.  ;D

Lucy, so sorry have just seen your lovely pic - thank you   :D

It's all looking fantastic   :o  so envious of your raised beds - something I need
to do this year, so shall copy yours as they are just what I want !

I wouldn't worry too much about plant spacing except minding the eventual size and
room needed to grow.    I like to sow, say carrots,  just loosely in rows and the same with parsnip,
I don't really mind if they get thier ' legs crossed ' or come out ' little and large ' can't be doing
with pricking out - have had some super crops too, all edible.

Just  give it your expert eye, or even cut a cane to cover 12ins in length,  mark it 6 and 8 ins and
it will never leave your side !

Lucy if your garlic are through - well done you, mine have been sat on by cats --  and worse!     :P

Do keep us posted and lovely to hear of your young budding gardeners  ahhhh

Thanks flossy great tip about the cane for spacing  ;D Just managed to get a load off freecycle so that's one used lol. Going to make some sort of fruit net as well at some point!!!

I'm going to be getting some topsoil to top up the raised beds before the major planting season starts.

The garlic did take while to pop its head above ground almost 2 mths  :o thought i had killed it somehow lol. I have a Scottie called Angus that seems to think that the raised bed is a raised doggy bed too. I think he's in one of the pic's i posted! Since the garlic started coming up he hasn't sat on them lol.

Right off to tend to the animals Oops i mean kids  ;D

kt.

My plot is only a 5 minute walk from home.  If it was outside my backdoor like yours..... boy would I be chuffed.
All you do and all you see is all your life will ever be

mummybunny

ktlawson thought it would be a good use of space and wanted to see if i could grow anything before i applied for a lottie will see how i get on in the growing season then who knows  ;D

Al37

Lucy,
If I was you I would enquire how long the waiting list is for a Lotty in your area could be a long time so regardless of how well you get on with what you have (which looks great by the way) it will probably be worth getting your name on the list now :)
I was really lucky and had to wait a whole three weeks but have heard of people waiting up to two years. Get your name on the list and when the time comes that you are offered a plot then you can decide if you want it or not.
