Hi Chappses. I don't tend to post a great deal, but like lurking in the shrubbery  :D

I have just got a load of sprouts in, and, when cleaning them up, saw loads and loads of tiny little black insects. They're about one millimetre long, and when they're all clustered together, they can burrow into the sprout leaving a fairly large hole.

Anyone seen anything like this before?

I get tiny little black thingies on mine too.....along with most others I know.I just steep the sprouts in salty water for a while and then trim and use as normal.
You can pick your friends, and you can pick your nose, but you can't pick your friends nose

Welcome out into the open Phil, don't dodge back into the shrubbery too soon!
We get them as well, but I don't think they are making the holes, sounds more like slugs and woodlice following up intitial damage...

Hiya, uncle phil, nice to meet you  ;D

If there are loads around the leafy tops, cut this part of the plant off.  The sprouts will be fine.  The cold spell will start to kill them off.
