Allotments 4 All

Hi all, Can anyone shed a bit of info on the growing of asparagus near onions.
My asparagus is in its first year (or will be next spring) and obviously is a permanent crop. Due to my crop rotation, the site for my onions and leeks will be next to the asparagus. My question is, can one veg spread its common diseases/soil faults to the other? I was sure that i read somewhere that the two might not be good crops to grow in the same part of the plot. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing. Must be reading too much on a new subject and getting confused.

  Know what you're saying about comparitive deseases so it is wise to get some info

the allium family, including garlic, leeks and onions are supposedly inimical to asparagus, so it might be best NOT to grow them close together but it depends on what you call close - asparagus loves marigolds and parsley so maybe grow some these to counteract
