Tomato tastes of Melon

Rhubarb Thrasher

says it all really. Grew St Pierre this year. Ripened the fruit indoors. Sliced one of the big ones up and drizzled with olive oil and had it for lunch today. It tastes of MELON, to the point that if you didn't know what you were eating, you'd say it WAS a melon. How cool is that?

tomato connoisseurs are as valuable as wine connoisseurs  :) sounds wonderful - the naming of flavours might be strange but usually very apt

it was a strange tomato. From the Feb sowing they were the ones that romped away, vigorous and strong, and then they really struggled, even before the blight arrived. I didn't think i'd get any toms, and none of them ripened fully on the plant. Normal looking tomato, not like a lot of the beefy ones, and definitely melon. From Franchi, so plenty of seeds left for next year
