My sister in law nearly has a heart attack when she see's one so she is having a go.

Some people say it works brilliantly others have less satisfactory results like this.

I am impressed by the fact that the ebay seller has actually sold 1lb of conkers for £8.50 though.

Pesky Wabbit

I'd be interested to know if this actually works as just outside my front door are 50+ goldmines

200-300 per tree, 50+ trees  - 15000 conkers
At £8.50 for 40, Gosh, I'm sitting on £3200.

Ok, they actually belong to the council, but I'm sure they won't mind.

Biscombe

Well I never expected that Teresa!  was expecting some mechanical spider trap or something! As one who's not fond of them, Ill give it a go! thanks!

lorna

Like Biscombe I thought this could be good. My son and one son-in-law (both over 6ft) are REALLY frightened of spiders. Eldest daughter has a real fear of  them. All 3 of them are not frightened of mice or rats. Although I am not keen on spiders I know what I would rather meet up with.

Bryan

 ;D ;D ;D LOL, LOL, LOL.
I hope not to offend anyone on this forum, but have clicked the link for the ebay listing and cannot believe that some muppet has actually bought some from this listing. I thought it was a wind-up but actually buying some does take the biscuit.
Don't worry about tomorrow, or yesterday, just think about today.

Think of all the extra flies you'll get with no spiders to eat them.

teresa

Its true what they say about Ebay you can sell anything on there.

If people are realy frightened of spiders then they will buy them ( cheaper to take a drive outside in the countryside) but not everyone knows what a conker tree looks like believe it or not?.

I collected some the other day grandson who's 5  is comming tomorrow, to have a game with him, I did get some strange looks from passing cars. Wondering what I was doing, no one does these things now how strange.

carolinej

We just got back from France, and picked up a few for our friends sons. They were huge (the conkers, not the sons ::))

cj :)

The same can be said for lots of traditional "ENGLISH" things. It is not very often you hear of a family sitting down for a Roast Sunday Dinner. We try and make sure that is what happens with us and our 3yr old.

I have done this,
but SIL she closed her bedroom curtains one night and a spider fell down. In fear she fell back onto the bed sumersalted over it and landed on the floor next to the wall.  :o
She could not move hubby came in he had heard her scream, she could not remember screaming, and carried her down stairs in tears.   :'(
Thats how bad some react. :(

I have a string of conkers on an outside wall from last years collection. Spiders have webs attached to them. Must be a strange breed of conker loving spiders?

Rhubarb Thrasher

it only works with conkers off ebay. They've been picked by virgins under a full moon

Robert_Brenchley

They're from trees grown in the sacred groves, cut down at full moon with a golden sickle, and blessed by the seventh son of a seventh son of a seventh son.

IT DOESN'T WORK IT DOESN'T WORK IT DOESN'T WORK IT DOESN'T WORKI tried at home on the window sill of my garage that always gets covered in spider webs!! The conkers are still there and so are the spiders and the webs!!

I have an electronic plug in deterrent not the same as the one that teresa posted the link for but the room I initially had it was spider and web free so I believe the plug ins work!!

Duke

When I lived in Cornwall, the house was warm and damp, and we always had house spiders (the big long-legged ones) in the corners. We also got flues in the summer. Now and then a bluebottle would be trundling around, and suddenly its buzz would rise to a furious whine. I'd have a look, and every time there was a big fat spider with its fangs deep in the fly. I'd never discourage them!
