Hi, Hoping someone can help! - Does anyone know where i can buy a macrame plant hangar.  Have been searching for a while, there are a few on ebay but not suitable, only other option is to buy a kit and make my own.  :-\

Don't know where you can buy one Hilary, but had you thought of looking in charity shops or cheapo shops? I'll go and look in my craft books in the meantime. :)
Have you googled it? Lots to look at there, but mostly how to make one yourself.

Sorry I missed this. H, I'm thinking your best bet is, as Emaggie said, to look in charity/tat shops for them....the craze started bout....oooh....70's-80's?? And lots of intricate ones with beads incorporated and tassels etc on the end. Seemed obligatory for everyone to have a spider-plant suspended in one at the far end of the bath....bet Abigail had got one when she held her famous Party - somewhere near the Hostess Trolley? ;D

But I'm thinking of making your own, as Emaggie suggested. If not on-line, and Emaggie doesn't come up with something, your library (or again, charity shop!) will have books on it.

btw....a couple (or so) years ago, I came across a macrame hanger lurking somewhere and resurrected it. Hung it from an apple tree with a trailing plant.....birds LOVED it!  Tore it to shreds in an instant - well, it was nest-building time...

If you do your own....nice project, I'd think, for autumn/winter nights...

All the best and good luck,

Lishka

No luck here I'm afraid. How to make a belt or a bookmark or how to do a zillion fancy knots, but no pot holder.Sorry Hilary. :(

Hi, thanks for your replies, sat here with feet in bowl of water after trecking around all the charity shops  :-\ unfortunately didnt manage to find one.  So am in process of purchasing a kit, comes complete with instructions, yarn, beads etc.  I am assured it is easy to make!! Yes, something to do on those cold winter nights by the fire, as a change from making paper pots ready for next seasons seeds.

Hi Hilary,

I used to make macrame plant hangers for a living, if you let me know what you want or pm me, I'll see if I can help you.
