Does anyone know what this could be?  Thanks if you do :)

WOW, I've actually posted my first photo ;D

Rhubarb Thrasher

How disappointing :(  There was meant to be a newbiscus in that pot ;D  ;D  ;D

Barnowl

There's something about it that doesn't seem very iris like, but I can't pin down what it is  ???

I can live in hope then.

It has grown really quickly as most day's I am looking in the pot to see if the newbsicus had started to grow and had never even noticed that thing, and was so excitied to think it had grown at the side instead of in the middle of the pot :)

I rushed home to look it up to make sure it was the newbiscus only to find that it wasn't :)

I guess it will be a surprise whatever it is.

Palustris

Could be Sisyrinchium striatum?  If it is an Iris then it looks more like the leaves from Iris bucharica.

Flighty

It looks like a gladioli without a flower stem!
Flighty's plot,  http://flightplot.wordpress.com,  is my blog.

Looks just like an Iris to me. Put the theory to the test - CAREFULLY scrape away some of the compost away from the base of the plant - being careful not to damage any roots. If you find a tuberous structure, looking a little bit like a ginger root, then I'd say it is definately an Iris.
