cleo,

Is that really so ?

We have a farmers market here in Herts once a month and we are informed of where the farm
that produces the product is.

Where are you and where are your farmers ?

I thought the idea of farmers markets was the produce had to from within a 30 mile radius.

nope. That is Locavoric food or local food.

A lot of negative propaganda is out there about organic food production. i.e. the world would starve! for a more balanced view check out http://www.soilandhealth.org/01aglibrary/010122king/ffc.html  ;)
You couldn't make it up!

PurpleHeather

There are too many humans in the world, the only way to feed us all is to cut down the trees, use chemicals and mistreat animals.

We can't change it all, we can just do our little bit as best we can.

Personally I think the worst sin is waste.

If I can't eat it or give it away I compost it. Not much help in the scheme of things but it is the best I can do.

No point in complaining about antibiotics, pesticides, fungicides or herbicides. The alternative is culling the species and we ain't going down that road of selection are we?

Robert_Brenchley

If we go down the route you're suggesting, we'll end up culling the entire ecosystem including ourselves.
