mr tomato
oh what a fight
all that hard work
just to end up with blight

all that i want
is a tomato thats red
grown in my garden
from my own veggie bed

the rain keeps on falling
straight down from the sky
i look out my window
and just want to cry

ive fed you and loved you
ive cared for you well
ive nutured, caressed you
you should feel just swell

but youre wilted and tilted
your leaves turning black
ive done all i can
its the sunshine you lack

just one little tom
that is all that i ask
oh mr tomato
is it such a big task

Very good! It expresses my feelings exactly. I did declare chemical warfare on the blight a few weeks ago and got out the dreaded dithane. So far I think its bought me some time. Hopefully I'll be able to harvest some green tomatoes this year so I can at least make chutney, but some red ones would be nice!

Found any good ones.  I made a load one year but we only ate about half a jar.  I didn't taste brilliant so didn't want to give it away and poison people.  Have done many different recipes this year, some a disaster and some OK.  I have made tomato paste and put it in the freezer.  Must remember to use it and not go to the shops and buy.  Not only does one have to grow the produce but learn how to be a good cook.  Must admit like some shop bought pickle etc better than mine but I am not a professional cook but will keep trying.
