All three of my children are going to Leeds Festival this weekend and the preparation is exhausting me!

Son, 21, an old hand having been for the last 7 years, has decided with some friends to have a "gourmet Leedsfest" this year so is taking loads of fresh food rather than the usual pot noodles. His girlfriend's car has broken down on her way to pick him up and he's just gone down to the doctor's as he's been wheezing since yesterday evening.I can see he'll be taking my car.

Daughter, 19, gave her tent to a friend to put up yesterday but it leaked in the torrential rain last night so she's had to take another one. After many changes of plan, I finally delivered her there this morning with a ridiculously heavy rucksack  plus extra bags.

Daughter, 15, going for the first time, has had endless traumas about what to take, when to go, how to get there, etc. and is being picked up later- just hope her friend's mum has got a big car as she's taking four of them plus all their stuff.

And of course the site is a complete quagmire already!
I'll be glad when they've all gone and we can have a quiet weekend, apart from the background "boom, boom" coming from the festival site, as we live a couple of miles away- the fireworks are usually good, though!

Anyone else having the same experience?

My two sons could write a book about quagmires!  Elder son (now 41) twice worked as a car park attendant to get free tickets to Glastonbury in the late 80s - five of them slept in a leaking 2-person tent.  Younger son (now 39) went about 10 years ago, and took two 16-year-old boys, sons of friends.  One was an Italian city boy, who had never seen mud before.  Never slept in a tent before, either. The other boy wasn't at all streetwise, and didn't know what had hit him.  They took the same tent.  They went in my (new) car. It chucked it down.

But a good time was had by all  8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) (except my car, and the tent was dumped after that trip!)

the good thing about my job is that if i want to go to glastonbury i can volunteer to work do 2 or 3 shifts then get the whole weekend and accomodation free, doesnt appeal to me to be honest i like my creature comforts, however others that regularly go to the various festivals love it guess im too old too  :o
