I asked last week about red onion varieties for overwintering, but would you suggest seeds or sets? I've grown summer ones from seed for the first time this year and been pleased with the results (and the money saved!) but would think sets might be more reliable at this time of year?

Mr Smith

I'm going for sets in my Sunday paper they are doing an offer on two types of autumn onions 'radar' and 'Electric' :)

It would almost be worth trying both to see what works better.

If sowing seeds for over wintering do I need to sow them now ??? and can I sow them in to seed trays and transplant them (this is the only way I could get them planted now.
