Can anyone recommend a DVD recorder/player for television.

I have looked at them and listened to what the sales people have to say about them but when I get home and look them up the reviews aren't that good, so now don't know what to buy.

I do know I fancy a hard drive so I can record direct to the player.

Many thanks if anyone can recommend a decent recorder at a reasonable price.

Which? magazine has 14 Best Buys, 2 have HDD:

Sony RDR-HX525 £242.06
Philips DVDR3450H £240

Garden Manager

Cant make an actual recomendation but i will offer one tip from personal expereince.

Try to go for the same brand recorder as your television (if possible) or other linked equipment (eg digibox). That way they should be compatible and easier to use.

We have a Panasonic TV and did have a Panasonic VCR/DVD. However wen we wanted a harddrive/DVD recorder (primarily to copy some of the VCR tapes), we chose a Samsung machine. it has not proved easy to use with our TV, nor is it particularly reilable, and is now starting to go wrong (the DVD part has malfunctioned). It will be replaced in time i am sure with a Panasonic HDD/DVD recorder.

Hope this helps
