St Helens buried my cousins' farm. They were not amused. = Tim

I suppose there are plenty of ideas kicking about from the past that were dismissed by scientists in favour of modern developments, and are now coming into fashion again, thanks to organic gardening/farming. People have always cultivated crops on the sides and bases of volcanoes and maybe we can all learn a lesson from them! Farming has changed such alot over the years, and I can't help but think it's not for the better. If food tastes bland and has to be sprayed a dozen times before it is deemed suitable for the supermarket, then surely SOMETHING has to change! I can't understand why people buy food that has no taste.
Sorry to hear about your cousin's farm, Tim. I hope all the family were OK. What happens to livestock when an eruption is forecast? Do they all get carted away to a safe area? Who organises this? The government? Sorry! I'm being very nosey!
