Well assuming I put the right ones in the right place, they should be King Edwards!  If not they're Maris Peers!

Whatever they were, they were fabulous!  Beans were so nice even the kids ate them!

are they french beans, we've found even matthew, 9 months, will eat them just cooked  :)

Yep mostly french beans, but a couple of runners in there too.  Literally cooked for about 4 minutes so lovely and crunchy.

We had potatoes, runner beans, spinach from the allotment and lamb chops (not from the allotment).  Then blackberry and apple crumble and cream.  Plenty of blackberries growing wild on the allotment, and three Brambley apples from my tree that I brought from Morrisons.  Still got four apples left and as two or three were growing together decided to split them.  Had enough for the crumble and some for apple sauce which I freeze in small containers.  Also tried to use up small courgettes by frying red onion (from the allotment, of course) mushrooms, tomatoes and the cut out middle of courgettes in butter with oregano (dried from allotment) black pepper and a little white wine.  When soft added it to the scooped out courgettes (they were small so hadn't gone to seed) and sprinkled it with plenty of grated cheese (the one you put on spagetti, Italian cheese, parmasan, would be clever if I could spell) and put on a baking tray, covered with foil and baked in oven for approx. 30 mins.  Will cook this for my veggie friends as it was delicious.  Next will try ratatwoi (but can't find a recipe as can't spell it and can't find it in the dictionary/encyclopedia (not much use I find when one can't spell).

P.S.  Said I hadn't rained in Enfield so went to the allotment to water and got soaking wet, should have kept my mouth shut, but was pleased to see the rain although the ground is still very dry underneath.

Here's one I use all the time:

4tbsp /60ml oil
2 large onions chopped
2 garlic cloves, crushed
1lb /0.5 kilo tomatoes, skinned & chopped
1 large aubergine, diced & degorged
8oz /225g courgettes, sliced
2 red or green peppers, de-pithed, deseeded & chopped
salt & pepper

Heat the oil in a saucepan. Add the onions garlic and tomatoes and fry for 5 minutes. Add the aubs, courgettes and peppers, stir well and cover. Simmer gently for 30 - 45 minutes or until the vegetables are tender. Season to taste. Serve hot or cold.

Recipe claims to feed 6 - 8 people but in my house it feeds me, twice.

Thanks for that, have just looked up egg plant in a recipe, wondered what strange plant it was and found out it was an aubergine.  No courgettes ready at the allotment today, a bit of a relief but tomorrow they will have grown again with this rain today.
