I have just come back from 2 weeks hols. Before I went all was well. Since I came back I have to do a system restore to get on to the internet. I have not used any "unusual" sites or downloaded anything, but I struggle every day.

I run AVG free and Zonealarm both set as they have been for the last 3 years any ideas?

???

Avg Anti Virus and Zone Alarms Anti Virus, if so you should not run two Anti Virus programs as they clash.

Windows latest update is clashing with zone alarm! It killed my fun last week! Brian the Brain came and sorted it, but he said you have to get rid of the update for a while. Zone alarm has sent an update to accomodate it now though.
I run AVG too, zone alarm is my firewall.
Smile, it confuses people.

there was an update of windows last week that stopped people with zonealarm from connecting to the internet.

Zone Alarm have just released a patch to fix it - so updating Zone ALarm should fix it

If you can't connect to do it, uninstall Microsoft security patch KB951748, a.k.a. MS08-037, then update ZA (then re-install the Microsoft patch)

course it may not be this at all

Zone Alarm is my firewall, AVG is my anti virus. Both have all the newest updates.

Still none the wiser, will check it all again! But thanks folks..

Although I don't AVG but only Zone Alarm, I had the same issue until I loaded the lastest release from Zone Alarm.

Thought it was ISP until I tested with my work laptop.

Ok, took out old Zone and installed new one. Removed the microsoft thingie as told to by Zone. Same problem still happening. Have now removed Zone again and all is ok....for now, have installed alternative firewall. God bless Major Geek!!

Fingers crossed!

Does your windows update automatically? That's the problem.
