Nearly ran these two over with my wheelie bin!


I imagine they were mating - never seen that before! The female (queen?) was absolutely enormous!

Whatever they were doing that is a great photo.

Queen bumblebees are enormous, but it's really early in the season for them to be mating. Normally they produce new queens and drones in late summer or early autumn.

Fantastic photo, Grandma.  Look so fluffy, just want to stroke 'em.   ;D
