Morning everyone

just been out to my greenhouse - saw and caught a red spider on my aubergines - and have tried to find out what it was.  It is not red spider mite - this was a real (small) spider with long legs and not like any of the images of the spider mite I saw on Google.  I've done a quick search on the forum to see any previous problems like this and I know Tim replied to one a few years back - but didn't say if it was a real problem or not.

No other signs of damage either to leaves or flowers - any ideas?

The other sort is v small, with a velvety body. Can't locate its photo.

PS Can!

Acari velvet mite - Neotrombicula Sp.
Thank you, Lady of the Land.

Thanks Tim - but the spider was bigger than this - I could see it easily without glasses, about same size as a money spider - and had 8 legs - so definitely a spider.

Sorry - posted the link from an earlier question without reading the size!!

But the Acari is 3mm? How big are yours??

I would say legs and body about 1/4 inch in old money

Rhubarb Thrasher

the woodlouse spider can be quite red, though it is bigger than you say

Thanks for the feedback - but it didn't look like any of these.  Took a magnifying glass out and looked at the back of all the leaves, cant see anything, so it might just have been a spider out for a morning stroll and not a nuisance.  Will start carrying my camera with me in case I see another one.
