Mine have been rubbish and one is now dearly departed  :(

I still live in hope though!

Georgie

Sounds like a bit of a mixed bag then.   ::)  Perhaps when they get to flowering stage those who have been lucky enough to receive decent plants could post pictures and offer cuttings? I'd be happy to do this.

Well I'm pleased to say that mine are all surviving.  They are in 5" pots and all in bud.  Rocket Fire in the second picture is just starting to open.   :)

I should have to say, with the benefit of personal hindsight, I am not a fan of J Parkers.

All decent plant companies guarantee their plants, so, if as in several cases here, you complain to the company,  they will replace plants, or refund the cost.  Not so, in the case of J Parker they will (instead of sending a credit to your credit card company, or a cheque) send you a credit note.  Therefore if you want to get the money back for the poor plants you have bought, you have to give them another order in order to cash in your credit note.

Nasty, 'nice little earner'.

I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole.

valmarg

ceres

I emailed them to tell them one of the fuschias had arrived dead.  I didn't expect a replacement or anything like that but an apologetic reply would have been nice.

valmarg

Sorry ceres, but you should expect a replacement/refund.  The company has happily accepted your money and not supplied you with viable plants.

I am not normally nangy, but if I have paid good money for something, and what I receive is substandard, then I either want a replacement of my money back.  Most companies I deal with are happy to do this.  J Parkers are not.

This was a free offer.  I agree with Ceres that an apology would have been nice but a replacement unlikely.  I wouldn't buy plants from J Parker either, but that discussion is probably for another thread.

I'd like to continue to hear how people are fairing with their free plants.

That was why I didn't expect a replacement!

There seems to be a common theme that the Devon Dumplings were duff stock.

Georgie

Yes.  If the offer was to lure in new customers - and I can't see why else a commercial company would give things away - it's pretty dumb to give out duff plants.  Either that or virtually everyone who took advantage of the offer here is clueless with Fuchsias.   ;D

Glad to hear the latter part of your message.  If the buds are dark red then it is Rocket Fire.  If they are creamy white, elongated with deep pink stripes it's Royal Mosaic and if they are creamy white and quite rounded then it's Devonshire Dumpling.

Hope this helps.   :)

My Royal Mosaic is out but still waiting on Devon. Dumpling.  How's everyone else doing?

Despite the wind (and heavy showers) I managed to get a picture of Royal Mosaic and Devonshire Dumpling today.   :)  G x

lorna

Looking good Georgie, really like the Devonshire Dumpling

Georgie

Thanks Lorna, me too, it's more subtle.  Also I was beginning to think I was talking to myself in this thread.   ;D

go to http://www.jparkers.co.uk/   click promotions enter code FR88 for 3 free fuchsias (no p@p)

It said the code had expired. Shame, I love fuschias although I do prefer the sall ones as I've found the flowers drop off the very big ones. But I od like free things.

Georgie

I think I can see where Royal Mosaic got its name.  Took this today.  G x
