does it look a bit like someone has spat on the plant for want of a better description?

tonybloke

It's known as 'cuckoo spit' and is the egg protection device of Froghoppers, a sap-sucking insect.
You couldn't make it up!

PurpleHeather

I agree with cockoo spit. It is not serious but not nice if it is in an eating area.

Fill a spray with water and wash it off.

thanks guys ill give it a go tried with a hose didn't work but will be a little more persuasive

Unless you've got a really bad attack, in each bit of cuckoo spit you will find a little pale green bug.  Apply thumb and forefinger to squish it. ;D ;D
