[rant]Wont be getting anymore money from me after this qtr's bill...

Firstly they over estimated the bill by £225 ! a pain but sorted by giving them the correct reading - again......

Secondly they put the prices up about a month ago & havn't sent us a letter telling us yet... I asked how they work out how much of the last qtr's bill is at the new tariff, apparantly they estimate it! What a load of c*ck, how do they know that i was'nt on holiday for the last month! Surley if they put the price up they should read the meter first. Of course i have no idea how much eleccy i had used up till they put the price up, but seeing as they always over estimate the main bill....[/rant]

What other suppliers do people recommend ?

I switched to EON last month - one of those switching websites reckon they were cheapest. In total I've probably spent 10 minutes faffing about, and it's going to save £250 a year, apparently! That's an hourly rate of £1500 for my work, not bad!

My personal view is that they're all a bunch of shits, so it was purely a cost thing. A bonus is that EON want to build new nuclear power stations, so it's also the most environmentally sensitive option.

we just switched to southern electric from eno as they worked out we where paying about £30-40 more than we needed to. time will tell. we also switched to them as they use hydroelectric.

I've just switched to a capped deal with Scottish Power. Had been with EDF for a couple of years and they were ok apart from reducing our direct debit amount just before they put their prices up, presumably to make us think they were cheaper. This resulted in a massive debit on our last quarterly bill, which we'll no doubt have to pay in a lump sum when we switch. Decided to go for a capped deal (until March 20011) as I can't see energy prices dropping any time soon.

Forgot to say, if you go through uswitch you can get a free case of wine as well!

I just switched from Scottish Power from British gas on electric and gas, and my bill has halved.  Has made a big difference to me :)

MIL was with british gas and was paying a fortune we got her advice from uswitch and help the aged who had some special deal with npower at the time they managed to save her a couple of hundred pounds which for a pensioner is quite a bit.

We had a young chappie of Indian descent knock on our door and tried to tell me I was paying more that I should be. How the hell did he know how much I was paying. I told him to ef off and told him to tell his effing brother to stop ringing me.

I use the metal coathanger and the mainfuse bypass method of saving money.
