Allotments 4 All

I am new to allotment growing, and my potatoes are just showing through have earthed them up and covered them.  I know I must do this to stop them from going green ,but how long will I have to do this before I can leave the tops showing .

I watched Bob Flowerdew explain that you have to leave some of the foliage showing as that is where the plants get their energy from, the sunlight.

Hi Bridgehouse, at this time of year it's still important to keep an eye out for late frosts,  so keep the fleece handy as the frost won't do your spuds too much good either. Apart from that, i found when i earthed up my spuds straight after planting them last year, they suffered no ill effects as far as i could see. Happy growing to you.  :) :) :)
