Hi can anyone suggest some good edible flowers I can attempt to grow to add variety to my salad bowl this summer?

Nasturtiums- both the flowers and leaves.  I took a salad decorated with the flowers to a women's meeting last year, and nobody had heard you could eat them. And nobody did! :-[
But I think they're great and add so much color. 
The handle on your recliner does not qualify as an exercise machine.

and the seeds - make a good substitute for capers

rose petals, violas, violets, hollyhocks, monarda, calendula  :o carnations (supposed to make good vodka as well) , coughette flowers,  chrysanths, catmint, lavender, fuchsia, sweetwilliams, woodruff........

Oh! I forgot the roots can be dried then roasted, it makes an acceptable coffee substitute
