I was intrigued by these beautiful mosaic paths and was thinking it might be a good covering for our old concrete patio. Have any of you tried doing something like this?

Very very nice! would take ages though! the weeds would take over!  ;)

They can work well, like a simplified equivalent of Roman mosaic floors. You lay a concrete path, then set the pebbles into it while it's still wet.

I love the look of those paths. We saw very similar paths in Greece on holiday one year ( I think it was  Lindos in Rhodes) Another fab idea is to use old broken crockery like this lady has done in the floor of her Gazebo/shed.

This is a really nice website showing the development of her small garden and her transformation of an old outhouse/shed into what she calls her "Millennium Shed" which is an open sided gazebo type garden room.

Beautiful! a search for ACE found them- very exciting addition to a garden and good directions as well. Thank you.

Love the paths, but lethal when wet.

It would not stop me having them, I already have a mosaic path and it carries a health warning when wet. So if you have a good lawyer, go for it.

Which - the tile mosaic or the pebble ?

The nearest I've got is to by a book - The Art Of Pebble Mosaics by Maggy Howarth ( 0 85532 767 7). Lots of good design ideas and examples as well as the practical 'how to' bit. Maybe one day ...

I've got pebble-dashed paths, so there!......do the pebble dash round the garden with a buckit, tip them onto the bare earth path, and STAMP 8) They serve the purpose of acting as bootscrapers between gravel paths & lawns - those dangerous little migrated chips of gravel that hid in the grass to fly in my face when I got the mower out,  now a thing of the past :D

Emagggie

No no no Lish, the pebble designs on the walls and paths. I have a box of stuff I've saved to incorporate in same if ever I get my cottage on my own to do with as I please and not conform to what others see as 'normal'
(I am not 'normal' ;D)

..so, scuse me! works of art aren't confined merely to ACE and the examples shown in the other links y'know ::)....my paths are Works of Art too I reckon  - worthy of Tate Modern & would fit a treat outside Rachel Whiteread's house...... :P ;D
