Planning on trying to grow melons this year but didn't have any room in the greenhouse so I built a coldframe.

This was made from old left over pieces of wood from a kitchen unit and the glass was from the shelves in an old fridge (safety glass).

Its taken me the day to build it and to be really honest I am really pleased!

Turned out better than I thought.

Planning on planting 4 melon plants and just letting them grow and see what happens.   ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

Still to paint the underside ;)

I have a temperature monitor to see what the temperature fluctuates by.

Anyway it was a fun build.

:)

BRILLIANT

Just shows what you can recycle, I wish you the same pleasure with growing in it.

That's very impressive Chris. Greenhouse next?
Smile, it confuses people.

Amazin

Well done indeed! What melons will you grow?

I should think the Taj Mahal next.
Where he can serve his melons.

And it is much more attractive than the one I built out of bubblewrap ;D

I'm not really too sure, it was a free pack from "Plants of Distinction"

Well done! This looks seriously good. BUT you scared me!
Do I HAVE to have a heated greenhouse (or similar) for melons?
I got some seeds off SoI and was dead confident I could put the established seedlings in the ground without any protection once the frost was over (after Easter or so).
Anyone grown melons outdoors in southern England (Wilts)? Tell me it can be done!

Chris looks good, but watch the size for 4 melons, it looks too small and they might all suffer . Good Luck  XX Jeannine
When God blesses you with a multitude of seeds double  the blessing by sharing your  seeds with other folks.
