Allotments 4 All

Offspring went to Amsterdam at the weekend and brought back these bulbs. The second pic is of the label he helpfully recorded - just a little too small for me to read properly!

Somebody please tell me they're not Amaryllis!

Well they aint squash, but they  sure look like amyrillis to this  squash collector LOL

Looks like amaryllis 'ludwig dazzler'.

Never thought I would disagree with the gardening-guru, Baccy Man - but 'Ludvig Dazzler' is pure white: I think Amazin's one, with its fine, red edging, could be 'Picotee'?

Yes I am!  :) Peering really hard at the label, I think it says 'Picotee'! Can anyone else make it out? x

At first glance I first thought picotee but I couldn't make out a red tinge.

Having peered at the screen for a bit - the label defintely starts with a P......I think  :-\

I like Amaryllis! They may be a bit er, frequently found, but they're such absurd flowers at a dull time of the year.

Offspring said they were orchids, bless... a little more training required there methinks.

The label definitely says Picotee and there's certainly a pink edge to the flower but when I googled, so many things came up with the name Picotee I guess I was just hoping for anything other than blinkin' Amaryllis.   :'(

Nah, he says he only went for the atmosphere...

He came back on Sunday - should be landing any minute now.

Maybe customs might confiscate the bulbs?! You'll have to grow them or you'll never get any more presents!

Funny you should say that, Kea - apparently he had bagsful of bulbs and Customs wouldn't let him through with all of them so he had to choose which to bring - I guess he thought these would be a novelty.

Must remind him - size isn't everything...

Blimey, I bought back virtually a suitcase full of various tulip bulbs last time we went to Amsterdam with no problems...... ::)

the uk are doing a simular lock down in the last year to the one that america did 3 years back. There will come a point when any food comming in has to have 1/2 a ton of paperwork :( we sent a xmas parcel to the us office year before last and they opened it up and as i had not included a dairy milk bar on the list they removed it :(

They says its part of there anti terrorism and food stardard control, when in actualy fact its just a way of people to stop inporting food from other countries making them spend £ or $  >:(
