Any chilli experts about ?

my mum brought me a chilli plant from the local farmers market in the spring, had a good harvest of smallish chillies about 2 inches long, kept it in the kichen window, anyway, its still flowerering and producing, has three on at the moment, just keeps producing  :o do i just leave it happily or cut it back havnt got a clue on what variety it is either, any suggestions, many thanks.

chillies are perenial plants and will keep producing if kept warm enough. Most people cut back to good main branches in the autumn after the main season's  harvest, to bring large plants in from outdoors but this could be done any time. Its best to let the plant rest a little in winter by lowering the temperature slightly and not feeding so much, then feeding again in spring and summer with tomato fertilizer or cold tea!

A photo would be required for identifying as there are thousands of varieties

If that were mine gunnerbe I'd be tempted to  save some seed from one of the fruits. It's not guaranteed to be free from cross pollination of course because you don't know how or where it was grown, but you'll at least end up with something similar if the original doesn't make it through the winter  ;D

I cut back the chillies I'm trying to over-winter around about now.
