(Opps...I posted this before in the wrong place)

My youngest son has been made redundant twice last year (2007) and I suggested he started his own clothing business. Well luckily I was down town the same day a shop ad was posted for rent.
We only got the keys on 27th and have been prepping the shop (bit of a mess really) but a prime spot to attract tourists and locals too.

What I need help with is...
Do any of you good people have any useful hints and tips for starting up.
Any good sites for getting shop fittings, counters and display items etc
I know I can reply on you

Thanks in advance

Lauren, how about a special opening offer?. Good window dressing essential.

Lots of good luck to you all.  Rosebud.

I nearly opened a hair salon last year (as a fairly silent partner), and found Exchange & Mart to be full of shop fittings... perhaps you've looked there already?

Best of luck with things - I own my own (Mortgage Broking) business now & would hate to have to go back to a corporate environment. But it's a bit scary sometimes! The best but rather dull thing I did was to draw up a business plan - forcing me to think of who my customers might be & how I can attract them. Also I have measures for success, which gives me something to celebrate.

What sort of clothing Lauren?

If it's designer/brand stuff & your son can prove that his shop is in a prime spot then manufacturers will provide the POS stuff and fittings etc.

It's going to be branded clothing...Quiksilver, Roxy, Gul etc etc.

Thanks for the tips on Exchnage and Mart. I've never heard of them before.

Yes, he has drawn up a business plan etc. and been approved by the bank for the chip and pin thingie and business account.
