Hi all,
I know this isn't really a computer problem
but I reckon I will get the best advice here :)

I have bought my mum a new O2 mobile phone but she wants to keep her old orange number.
I can't get the number for customer services anywhere,
Not even on the orange website.
I will be phoning them from an o2 phone.

Does anyone please have the number?

Pay monthly mobile customers
150 from your pay monthly phone or 07973 100 150 from any other phone

Pay as you go mobile customers
450 from your pay as you go phone or 07973 100 450 from any other phone

(Edit:  Thought you needed the Orange Customer Services to transfer the number?  That's what the above numbers are)

The o2 numbers (there are hundreds) are here

http://service.o2.co.uk/IQ/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE/,/?St=151,E=0000000001723976357,K=6228,Sxi=9,T=Contact_us2

Another oprion, if the old and new phones aren't dissimilar, and your mum is happy with the tarrif, is to just swap the sim cards over.

Thanks Silverbirch,
I'll keep this link for when I switch my mum over to o2
in case she needs help :)

Savageblue,
We are both pay as you go.
She's orange and I am o2,
The reason I have bought her an o2 phone is because I have a genie sim and can get 500 free talk minutes a month to another o2 phone (Mum's in England and I'm in N.Ireland)

It is the orange customer service number I'm after to phone from my o2 mobile phone. Thanks very much for your help ;)

By the way guys, My Mum has a clapped out , 8yr old brick of a phone  ;D
there's no chance of switching sims, and this is why I'm hassling you ! ;D ;D ;D

Thanks very much both of you  ;)

I'm not sure that you can transfer PAYG numbers, but phone and ask anyway - say you want to port out the MSISDN (phone number) and you need a PAC code.

Be aware that there are a lot of newbies on PAYG at the mo, so you may get someone who doesn't know the in's and out's - if you are not happy ask to speak to the team leader.

Just a thought - has your Mum registered her Orange handset?  If it is unregistered then she defo can't take the number with her.  Are you going to be doing this on your Mum's behalf?  you will need her password

Hope that helps

Hi SMP1704,
Oh what a can of worms I opened today  ::)
I phoned the PAYG orange number today and got an irritating automated voice asking for my mums phone number. (easy, I knew that !)
Then I needed her 4 didgit pass code (shoot ! ) I hung up !
Next, I phoned mum and guess what ? She made it up 9yrs ago,
has never used it since and has now forgot it :P
Undeterred, I phoned them back and when "the voice" got to the bit about keying in the code, I did nothing, eventually "the voice" passed me on to a real person (somewhere in India)  :P
Pretending to be my mum, I explained I wanted to switch to 02 and wanted a PAC code, and had forgot my pass code. I Had to give my name, address , date of birth (which I knew) ;D AND postcode, (Didn't Bl**dy know) ;D ;D ;D
I made a very feeble excuse that I had recently moved to a new house and nobody had written to me yet, so I didn't know it  :P   ;D ;D ;D
Luckily she bought it and I will receive the PAC through the post within 2 to 3 days. (or rather my mum will)
Mission accomplished  8)

I'm glad it worked and went relatively smoothly

Just for interest. I got a new T Mobile contract phone last week which came without a Sim Card as I was to use the old one from my old T mobile contract phone. It switched over easily.

However I still liked my old mobile  which was 3 years old and decided to keep it as a back up but I needed  card for it.

I had a an old orange mobile that I bought in 2000 for £18 only   I never use it  as it would no longer charge.

I took the card out of it, popped it into my  3 year old T mobile phone, it worked perfectly, a quick call to orange to put some credit on it and it is  just fine, so don't give up on Mums 8 year old Orange card.
