Allotments 4 All

I had some of these from a pass the parcel and was under the impression i could plant them in the winter, so i got them out and put them to soak and hubby appears to have thrown them out, has anyone got some or some aubergines that are over winter. and what is the right time to plant them please
got a few things i can swap for  ;D
