         What compost were these grown in?  Was it your usual or one of the new ones..

It was a new cheapo, Jim, but typical of what I seem to get at this time of year.

At the same time, the fruit goes 'lack-lustre'.

Tim, I assume what you mean by 'no furry stuff', is that it's not botrytis, and it being 'typical of what you seem to get at this time of year', it could just be your plants are 'giving up the ghost'.  Having done their bit, are winding down, fruits likewise!!

By the yellow viens in the leaves Tim it looks as though it could be a virus of some sort
