Planted 12 cauliflours in a nice new bed, they have lasted 3 days!!! I now have only 5 left - who ate them ??? ??? ???

No slugs about, root still in but no leaves

Covered my cabbage (done for the family as I dont like cabbage) but my cauliflours (I love!!!) I didn't, nor my leeks.

the Cauli roots are still there, wouldn't birds pull the whole thing out rather than nibble all the green.

either way the little buggers should be shot. got mice could they have done it??

Went up again this morning to find my remaining Caulis have now dissappeared. All I have left to show is the odd stump - can they recover????

Cut some clear bottles up today and covered the stumps with them in a bid to protect what little is left, am I wasting my time

Yes you may get a regrowth cabbages do but not sure with a cauli.

maybe if you put a cut cross in the stump, they may re grow, we had 4 small caulis come from a stump this year, like broccoli spears  :)

any rabbit eating my cauli,s this year would need a magnifying glass to find them

My bet is on birds too - pidgeons are especially voracious in my garden, and they've had a go at every one of my cabbage plants. They don't bother with the stalks and roots, though. They have also gobbled every single flower head of my French marigolds, which were supposed to be warding off other "pests", and had a feast of nearly every ornamental plant in he rockery. I don't think they're easily scared too stupid), and haven't bothered with a scarecrow or similar.

i live in rural area surround 1/2 bye woods and fields, we have had problem with Munk Jack Deers, could poss be that

Based in Doncaster with a railway line one side, main road to 2 sides and housing estate to the back. Reckon on Rabbits as no gate on my lot yet - obvious entrance really. Been down today to find they have started on my leek seedlings as well. Now I have put a fence around the bed surrounded in plastic to knee high, hope to stop the buggers that way.
