I have done a search on this topic but can't seem to make out a straight(ish) answer. OH came home with a bag of these the other day, we figured they would go slimy used on their own but if i put them on the sweetcorn with the straw that's already down would that be ok? Or should i just bung them on the compost?

Emmy I think the consensus on here is that grass cuttings are good as a mulch.

i keep waiting for the sun to dry the grass a bit so i (and plenty of others) can get cutting.  I need some grass for mulch !

KP I couldn't bear it any longer so I attacked it with the strimmer yesterday and now it's looking a bit more civilised. I only have a small area of grass in my garden mind you - the plants ponds and patios kinda took over. :-[

i'm away for the weekend (heading to the airport in about 5 mns), in an inspired moment i said to the OH, if the grass is dry enough to cut, keep the cuttings for me.

he looked at me as though I was speaking advanced urdu !

Yep, I've got that they are good but a search threw up many discussions on them going slimy. I do love a mulch, straw is my fav at the mo and compost. I'll mix 'em with the straw and bung them down tomorrow. Thanks all. x
