I had a beautiful honeysuckle plant growing over an arch which seemed to be doing really well, up untill a few weeks ago when I noticed some bugs which I assumed were aphids covering the new flower buds. They were covered untill completely black. I tried the method of spraying with watered down washing up liquid. Unfortunately the plant now seems to have died, the leaves blackened and dropped off. I wonder if anyone knows what coulsd have caused this......please don't tell me I killed it with the washing up liquid  :'( Is there any chance that it will pick up again, or is all lost!

Try scraping (with your fingernail) the main stem. If, when you have scraped some of the outer stem away there is green showing, then the plant is still alive and needs a little nurturing. If there is no green there then unfortunately the plant is dead.

poor you.   :'(   My honeysuckle has just started to run riot (at last).

Mine seems to suffer from mildew rather than bugs and I've had to prune it right back at the end of the last two seasons, so have had to start from scratch each year.  I'm hoping for a nice wall of it climbing over the g/h this year so will keep a sharp eye out for nasties.

Hope yours recovers Jasminflower.
