Hi,

found a lafybird in the greenhouse today - but it was black with red spots. Not sure on type, only usually see normal red with black spot ones.

Anyone know the type and is it good or bad???

It is probably a normal ladybird because forms occur which are black with red spots as well as the more common red with black spots.

Depending on the body size and the colour of it's legs it could also be an invader! - The harlquin ladybird competes with native ladybirds for food and will even eat them. There are two useful .PDFs to download on this page with good pictures, also lots of other info on the site.
