I found this site:

http://www.chileseeds.co.uk/chili_pepper_seed_collections.htm

and am contemplating the hot collection. Am I nuts?

(Obviously, I'll only be putting these chillis in the food of people I dislike intensely!!!).....or perhaps I should plant them in my front garden within easy reach of the local thugs to try? ;)

I've never grown chillis before. Am I being too ambitious? Any guidance and pointers welcome!

Would anyone be interested in dividing the cost of any of these packages with me?

Give this one a try in the shed, funplants. It's usually busier than the Ebugumbay page.
Good luck...sound a good idea sharing costs on seeds.

their seed collection is missing what is apparently the hottest chilli in the world now, the dorset naga
takes over your life doesn't it

I'm moving towards the opposite - growing a collection of the mildest chillies!

    norfolklass

which mild varieties would you recommend, Barnowl?
OH only likes the taste of chilli, not the heat.

    Barnowl

I really liked Espanola last year (it made great mild and fruity chilli powder) and Mulato were promising (they're dark brown), also Georgia Flame were good (despite being praised by Monty).

My Aji Panca never ripened to red but eaten green worked well in Thai curries. Joe's long can be relatively mild for a cayenne variety, but I'm not sure how predictable they are heatwise.

Of the medium ones (a bit above Jalapeno strength) Apache, Mirasol and Kung Pao are my favourites so far.

I've added Poblano Ancho, Guajillo and some new Numex mild habanero and jalapeno varieties this year but still on the look out for any other mild ones.

    norfolklass

    fab, thanks Barnowl!
off I go, back to T&M to make my half price seed order even bigger ::)

    Barnowl

    Hi Deb,

I know I haven't any Espanola or Georgia Flame left, but I'll see if I've any other suitable seeds and pop some in the post to you.

    Still at Ben Cracknell Studios?

    Cheers,

    Alan

that would be fab, thank you SO much!!
have just ordered some Poblano from T&M, the only half price one I could find that you mentioned â€" they sound like the very thing ;D

what would you like in return?!?

    Barnowl

I'm fine for this year thanks.

(sorry, seem to have hijacked the thread - sure I sent that as a PM!)
