Planted a Rocket potato seed back in February and took a look at the progress yesterday.

One of the small potatos broke off in my hand so I thought we would boil it up and give it a try.

Wow, i'm not kidding...the flavour was outstanding, very buttery. It was just smaller than an egg but looking forward to more.

Chris, you can't beat it can you?  I will always remember the magic of eating my first serving of home-grown new potatoes so I know just how you feel, we are so lucky and the people who don't grow veggies don't know what they are missing. :)

I love this thread - a real homage to a single, perfect potato.   :)

Really makes you realise how bad the stuff is in the shops these days...

Carrots are another one - home grown ones are a totally different vegatable to shop bought ones.

Aah, it's just sooooo satisfying ain't it? I remember the feeling when we dug up our spuds for the first time. We were so impressed with them we gave most of the darn things away!!
Don't throw paper away. There is no away.

It's no good I'm going to have to take just a tiny peep under mine! ::)
If I ever get it all right - then that's the time to quit.

Truffle

The taste difference is unbelievable! I remember my first home-gowns, couldn’t believe the difference. Now I know why many people on our site dedicate around a third of a plot to spuds!
