Hi Glow,

Cobnut,Ponca, and Gold Nugget are all Winter Squash types of Butternut, they vine.

Gem,Gold Rush are summer squash, they bush.

Queenie Blue,Spaghetti,Sibley, Kuri,Pink Banana and Thelma Sanders Sweet Potato are all winters and they vine.

Sugar Loaf winter squash comes two ways. There is a compact bush and the original which vines. If it is the bush it will say, compact or bush on it, if it says nothing it will be the original. If you got them from someone else who didn't say treat it as a vine.

ta again J (still the squash godess) you just saved me from growing a bush squash on overhead supports intended for a vine.

Can I ask another question - how big do the pink bananas grow these are probably looking at being the favourite for the overhead route (interspersed with some form of coloured climbing bean) and will they be OK in a very large pot (water butt cut down length ways)

Hey  Glow , not the best choice for growing up ,the vines can grow  up to 40 feet and the friut can weigh 40 pounds.  More usual is a 10-15pound fruit though

Actually check your packet, there is a compact bush variety of this one too  but the one sold is usually the original.

By the way it starts orange and turns pink later.

The Kuri will do well on a trellis

packet was a little plastic bag with (i think) your handwriting on it!

looking at my list attempt #3 probably says grow Cobnut,Ponca or Gold Nugget uphill then

Glow if it is one of mine then it is a Jumbo Pink Banana and can get huge.

You should be OK with the butternut types but be prepared to support them XX Jeannine
