Moving apple trees

On a whim, I bought two trees from Lidl last year.  I hadn't prepared the ground and so ended up digging out big holes, back filling with compost, manure and soil and bunging them in.  They have done OK.

Now in year 2, I am looking to rectify my mistakes and I am wondering if I can move the trees?  As they only cost a few pounds, I suppose I could try and keep fingers crossed.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks

Do it while they are still dormant and remember the roots will have grown so start away from the tree and work inwards till you find the rootball.

Well the trees have been re-sited.  Dug out holes about 2.5 ft sq and forked over the base, pulling out horsetail as I went - grrr.  Filled in with mix of manure, soil and bonemeal and then mulched with manure.  Covered the whole area with membrance and bark chippings again to keep back the pesky HT.

thanks for the advice.
