I read that the Sun is doing a running article on square foot veg gardening over the next few weeks in their gardening bit. Anyone got a scanner can put them up for the rest of us, or tell us which days to look out for? ::)

Ah, but I'd love to see a popular spin on the subject in a tabloid :-[ Maybe it'll be on the website?

I don't buy any paper... there's certainly no news in them when I glance at ones in the pub, thought the sun specialised in pictures...

I use square foot gardening on my plot & find it works out quite well for me.   The setting up can be a tad picky at the start but once all the squares are marked out it becomes much easier on following years.

The system was designed by a guy called Mel Bartholomew who did an accompanying book.   I use the book in conjuction with Pauline Pears book on organic gardening on the bed system and Caroline Foley's "Allotment Handbook" and find the three work great together.

I am the only holder on my site who does square foot gardening and had a lot of interest from some of the other (older) holders when I first set up.   I think they found it amusing watching somebody split their beds up using LOTS of baler band.

The hardest part for me was keeping track of what I grew where but some graph paper and Windows Excel spreadsheet soon overcame this.
