Recipe said new potatoes - with apple, red onion & sage. To go with mustard/honey Bacon Chops.

Well, the potatoes were lovely - Colleen - bagged early June - but wasted in that mix-up! Just 17 min from frozen.

Next time they'll be in a salad - or with butter & chives.

back to basics for me, Tim, with freezing vegetables generally & pots in particular...

SO......potatoes can be frozen & when thawed aren't a mush? Didn't know that....not that I've ever tried freezing/thawing them, so assumptions are dangerous things, eh?

And also......if your reply's positive about freezing/thawing new potatoes for something like a salad........how cross with myself am I going to be ??? :o ;)

tim

Al-ISH-ka - you haven't been attending, this last 2 1/2 years??

No mush - just like new. No blanching, either. And, despite what I've said earlier, I did not open freeze this year.

Just cooked this one for you!!

I'm amazed too Tim though it would be wonderful to have too many so we needed to freeze any - if you see what i mean.

I've got new potatoes that I planted in July uncovered them at the weekend and got a good crop.

Need a non-smiling kicking myself smilie here remembering all those new potatoes I've eaten cos it was a shame to let them go to waste when really what I'd wanted was pasta or pizza......

BUT NEVER AGAIN  8)

but Tim,,,,,,where's the butter?  ;D

tim

That works well, Rosy - but just more digging in the cold!!

Rosyred

No Tim I did the no dig method as a trail.

tim

That's a good method. I did it once.

But you still have to go out in the cold. Sometimes with a torch!!
