I'm always saying that when someone asks me about my plot ... ah well ... next year I'll ... well you know how it goes, a veggie version of Kew Gardens.

What's on your next year list?  What have you yet to try that you haven't got round to?

Or what exotics or tricky lil blighters did you do well with this year?

;D

Well I'm hoping to have a few tubers on those sweet potatoes...
I have had Pomegranates set on the patio, I grew Para cress but don't think it will join my favourites list...

and these chillies (Habanero Orange) are atomic. I fancy one of the purple or Black chillies for next year and have bulked up the yellow mangetout we got from real seeds.... might try Lab Lab Beans... (Dolchios?)
Many happy evening with the seed cats to come!

All our veggies were 'firsts' so whatever came up made us happy, but I'm quite proud of my Malabar climbing spinach, currently overshadowed by jerusalems, because its the only one on any of the allotments here and rather tasty with a long cropping season. It's looking a bit thinner than usual because we cropped a lot of larger leaves just before this photo

Ooo ... i grew small purple chillies this year that turned bright orange, want me to pop a couple in the post so you can save the seed?

Have been kept away from other peppers so should come true!

This is the Achocha that I mentioned, hiding an early learning centre small swing frame...

it looks a lot better now, that is in the middle of the really hot bit, but the newer pic is still in the camera.... you can't see the frame now!
::)

Nearly forgot, got loads of these purple podded peas... from HDRA been saving them for years...

Well I just got my allotment, and I'm in the process of clearing it down - a non too nice task. It seems (as is always the case it would appear) that no one has used this plot for some time (even Google earth has it shown as overgrown and those pictures are 3 years old at least)

I'm in the "planning & clearing" stage now, but I have HIGH hopes ;) I've cleared a small patch (2 or 3 sq metres) and I'm planning on migrating some Rhubarb into that, planting some garlic and preparing for some beans - that's about all I can plant this time of year I think...

Next year though I have plans for some much more exciting things from The Organic Catalogue - some staples (onion sets, carrots, potatoes, peas - all of different varieties too see what I get on best with) but I'd love to plant out some more exotic experiments too... It's just a shame I'm not allowed any "structures" on my allotment so no shed of plastic green house for me :(

How low can you go Daniel? Presumably supports for climbing beans and cloches are allowed... I can understand sites being "anti "the shanty town appearance but no shelter????
:o

It's been my first attempt at growing veg this year in the back garden and I had great results from the courgettes so I'll probably grow them again next year -  just not as many plants next time though!! ;D

Planted a few things in the wrong place so stuff like peppers and chillis weren't as good as they could have been but we'll live and learn for 2007!

Garlic has already gone in and the onion seeds are germinating already. The usuals like potatoes, tomatoes etc are in the plan as are some brassicas :o fingers crossed as I have a large slug population.

I've just got to persuade the OH to get a shed or greenhouse as I'm going to run out of windowsills come Spring!

Yeah I know... I'll get my letter with contract this week I hope - should give me some details... It's a real shame that I can't have a shelter etc - it means I have to keep all my tools in a low locked box - no chair to have a sit down etc - no potting shed for the light work... Hell I can't even store onions, tatties etc without bringing them home - and therefore nearer the dreaded dogs, they will eat anything!!!! Storage is a premium at home :(

We are unlucky enough not to have a site rep with shed for seeds/materials etc.. :(

Still I won't let it upset me - maybe there is some hope somewhere...

I'm liking that idea - I wonder if I could get away with it...

Back to the thread, I'm looking forward to growing black, green, orange and stripy tomatoes next year along with my usual red and yelows!!
I'm also going to try Crystal apple cukes.  I'll be scrapping tomatillos and amaranth and yellow pear tomatoes.
Good post! :)
