I'm growing Chantenay Red & Autumn King this year. For how long can I leave them in, or do I need to lift & store them soon? - since the Nantes finished I've been pulling the odd one & they're a good size with no slug or fly damage - so far! Foliage still green and healthy.

Thanks

Hyacinth

I've had them last into the new year - albeit a bit hairy!!

I have always left my Autumn King in the ground. They keep fine, the only problem is digging them out when the ground is frozen.
Cats rule !

Many thanks both. Just the answer I was hoping for :)

just beware a lot of wet weather if your soil isn't sandy, i.e. with lots of drainage, as the carrots can rot

Large roots may split if you have had the 3" of rain this week... I have just emptied a wheelbarrow full of water!
