I cannot believe that this wind-up about black buckets has now gone global :o The last time you lot tricked me into an expensive drive to Morrisons at a time of rising petrol prices they weren't even using them. No way am I falling for this a second time ;D

NOPE! black buckets are an urban myth IMHO :P

Heldi

They do exist...I saw some in the Morrisons by the roundabout near Cowgate in Newcastle just last Thursday. They were hiding under a table. I forgot to rescue any tho.

lorna

Lish. Pop over to the Isle of Wight, that's where I got mine!!!!!

Hi all,
Regarding the black buckets, Asda give away the ones that their flowers are delivered in, I got about 50 free!  You may have to give a donation to charity etc., but what a bargain!

MrsKP

hee hee hee ......... i've now got about 40 in my shed.  don't worry Lish, i've some saved for you.   ;D

I bought loads from Morrisons in the spring, I didn't realise that they were in fact flower buckets and that they had no drainage holes.  I had to drill each of them - at least 50 -  & several of them split cos they are very thin plastic.  Brilliant bargain though & a really good size.  I have grown all my toms in them & lots of other things.

MrsKP

I've pretty near gassed myself on a few occasions with a hot skewer in the kitchen making the holes lmao.

i've got a few dotted round the garden for various prunings !  dead handy.

can never have too many buckets ....... eh Lish ?

:P

IF....IF...IF I ever had any of those buckets I'd be growing early carrots in them I think.....but as I don't, I can't  :'(

mc55

aww, feeling bad now - if the October meeting is still on, maybe we should all raid our local morrisons so that Lishka can join the Black Bucket Club  :D :D ...

Hyacinth

Sunday morning - after my sortie to Wilkinson's for their End-of-Season bargains, I'm going on to my local Morries and DEMAND MY RIGHTS ;D but I've still got this sneaky feeling that they don't actually exist.. :-\

lorna

Lish. You can even have one of mine. Lovingly transported in back of car from Isle of White. Drain holes already in. (I always drill a pilot hole first then use a bigger drill bit  Don't split the plastic then)
KP You are joking about the hot skewer aren't you ???

Hyacinth

If KP's joking, I'm not. That's the way I do mine, always have. 8)

Robert_Brenchley

With a pointed knife. Shove it in and keep twisting it round till you have a hole the size you want.

MrsKP

nothing like a good lungful of molten plastic to clear the sinuses !

(and i think the plastic is so thin it would crack doing it "dry".)
