Just heard my daughter's GCSE results, she is now the proud possessor of the following ...

1 x A*
2 x A
7 x B (one of them from last year - taken early)
1 x C

I feel thrilled for her, and extremely dim at the same time ...  :)

Snap(ish). I'm a chuffed Mum!

1 A*
2 A's
3 B's
3 C's
1 D

All this with very little work despite my nagging (which I knew was a waste of time.)

Well your daughter too Beejay, I altered the thread title to be more suitable ...  :)

I'm really proud of my son he got 6 cs 1 d 3 es and an f but he also went to a local joiners for work experience and impressed them so much he got the apprenticeship the only one for this year he passed his exam for his college place hes been at work two weeks now and loving it the down side he gained his apprenticeship before sitting his exams so why revise so we expected a lot worse!! Ive put an order in for a new kitchen in 2 years!!

It is really great that the people on this site congratulate the hard working students, they really deserve it. Well done all of you.

What annoys me is all the mingers who say that they are making the exams too easy. These kids have worked hard to get the results and deserve all the praise we can give them.

I wish I was as bright as them.

My kids were never going to be academics, but a hard working nurse, a project manager and a skilled mechanic still took a lot of hard work. I subsidised their wages as they did not earn a lot while they were training and I feel very proud when I see their framed city and guild certificates on the wall.

PS and don't forget the parents, for their encouragement. They also feel as if they have gone through hell.

Tulipa

ACE, it's good to see your point about the people who say exams are too easy.  I have invigilated GCSEs for a number of years and it is so sad to see such stressed young people come in to the hall to take their exams.  Even the ones who make out they don't care change when they come in there, it is stressfull for each and every one of them and well done to them all, no matter their grades, they have all done their best and gone though a lot to get there.

Sorry, I just feel for them all... :(

Gourd, your son sounds to have landed on his feet, well done to him.

I suppose the process of study and exams is still the same - difficult whatever level.

Well done to everyone.

Well done to your daughter.  You are, and should be, suitably proud of her achievements.

The bit I find hard to get my head round are the sods who try to belittle, not only your daughter's efforts,  but the efforts of any children these days. The idea that 'exams are 'easier than they were in my day', is utter rubbish.

Good luck to your daughter.  I hope she manages to pursue her chosen career, without incurring too much debt!!
