My  Computer crashed recently and XP Home, had to be reloaded. This deleted my Favourities & Address Book, so this doesn`t happen again--how do you back it up ? ?
I  have been to Start/programs/accessories/system tools/backup, but it doesn`t work, any ideas please.

it's been such a long time since i did this that i've forgotten how !   :o

are you using IE as your browser ?  i'm pretty sure you go to File/Import Export

export all your book marks to a file called "Bookmark", you can then save that to a disc/cd whatever, then to reinstall it ...... import it again.

I use Firefox as my browser and can't for the life of me remember what to do, so if anyone knows ....... feel free to chip in.   ;D

just had a play with Firefox and it's the same principle.

Open Bookmarks Manager

File Export (to safe place of your choice and on a disc)  then Import again to restore ........... I THINK.

just sucessfully imported all my Firefox favourites to IE using the above method, so it DOES work.

explain "global Window's Address Book" ......... your Outlook contacts ???

if so, same principle.  I use outlook express and you can

File
Import (or Export)

save it to a file and then reverse the procedure to reinstall.

In order to avoid the problem of losing my address book again, I now have everything stored online, since I use googlemail as my preferred email now. I have this also accessed from my OE, so I can check all my email addresses in one hit. I found that when exporting address books for backup purposes, the format 'comma separated values (CSV)' seems to get round compatability problems with different versions of windows (and email systems).
