Are they CF Tim? Some of mine look like that, also have a very extravagantly shaped Bell Boy pepper which is similar! Good job I grow to eat, not to show!!

The one on the left is. T'others are ML. The good ML is in bellebouche's thread.

Or, later, here!

Someone said that they go to 2lb? The biggest here is only one pound. Some way to go? Will the branch hold it??

Your first picture of the catfaced tomatoes - the may be ugly but the taste will still be there, and if you've got a machine to wazz them through to turn them into passata, so much the better!!

The later picture of CF and ML tomatoes, is absolutely fantastic (bring on the mozzarella, salami, onion, virgin olive oil and balsamic + crusty bread),  drooling already.

However, you state that these tomatoes are all about the one pound size, and "someone said that they go to 2lb".  I have a snap of a tomato we grew, taken last year, on the electronic scale of a right ugly beggar we managed to grow, weighing in at 1.75 lbs, but I don't know how to post the picture.  Would you mind telling me how I can get this picture on site.

My old grannie used to asy 'pity the braggart'.  That's not why I want to show the picture.  Just to show 'it can be done'.  If I remember correctly the variety was Supersteak from T&M.

Thanks Tim, I've had a go - has it worked?

valmarg

Ah Tim obviously it has, but on checking the weight on the scale it is 1:07.45lbs, and not the 1:74.5 I thought.  It means I'm about 4oz off the weight I stated.

All I remember is that it was delicious.

Whatever it is we grow, as you state "taste is the aim".  It's what makes all the effort worthwhile.

At the moment with the 'glut' of veg and fruit, we are going into taste 'overdrive'.

Aint it wonderful??
