Allotments 4 All

Pleased as punch, hubby and I have grown carrots for a laugh, with our drinking buddies.  Today was the big finale and grand reveal.

We won the longest carrot, the ugiest carrot, 3rd place in the fattest carrot and the overall carrot trophy.

The variety is Cosmic Purple and we are chuffed to bits.




Sorry to brag but I have to share this sucess with people who will understand, most people think it's a bit daft.

See the 'ugliest' carrot, much of my root veg ends up like that! Swedes, carrots, long/cylinder beetroot.. all turn out very poor. Turnips, Kohl Rabi - they're all fine.. it's just the things that should 'go deep'

I wonder what the biological/physiologocal trigger is that make s a root vegetables do that rather than behave itself and chuck out a nice long straight root?
